As a child, some of my fondest memories were made at the Gaylord Alpenfest. I remember spending summer evenings with my grandparents, wandering through the craft booths, riding rides, the air filled with laughter and the smell of elephant ears. They introduced me to the magic of Alpenfest, and those cherished moments have stayed with me.
Years later, my connection to Alpenfest deepened when I joined the Gaylord Area Chamber of Commerce as the Marketing & Event Specialist. I gained a deeper appreciation for the dedication and hard work that goes into making this event a success. Seeing the community come together, year after year, to celebrate our local traditions and create new memories was incredibly rewarding.
Now, as a parent, I have the joy of experiencing Alpenfest through the eyes of my children. Their excitement is contagious, and it brings back a flood of happy memories from my own childhood. My teenage son favors the Zipper ride. My daughter can't get enough of the Graviton. Make sure to follow Gaylord Alpenfest on Facebook so you don't miss the pre-sale for the weekly wristband!
One of the highlights of Alpenfest for families is Kid's Day on Wednesday. If you can only make it to one day of the festival, this is the day you don't want to miss. From pie-eating contests and stilt walking to bubble gum blowing and pizza-eating contests, there is something fun and engaging for children (and adults) of all ages.
Gaylord Alpenfest is more than just an event; it's a beloved tradition that brings our community together and creates lasting memories for families who attend. Whether you’re reliving your own childhood memories or making new ones with your children, Alpenfest is a celebration of everything that makes Gaylord special. I can't wait to see you on the Strasse and share in the magic of this wonderful festival. Don't forget your dirndl and lederhosen!
